The concept of our studio developed during the pandemic. Covid adjusted our priorities and daily routines in a major way, it gave us a minute to pause and reflect on what we really want to spend our days doing, hence our love for pottery had a chance to bloom. With a curated functional design, we wanted the studio to be an escape from the hustle & bustle of daily life, a place where you can really relax & improve or learn a new skill.
Words from our founder:
“Studio CLAY was initiated to support small ceramic businesses and educate aspiring ceramicists about all aspects of pottery. My studio is an open space so every stage of the process is purposely visible from recycling to the kilns, it’s important as it educates both our clients & students and engages their curiosity.” - Noura Al Dhaheri
Therapy
Many studies have concluded the incredible physical & mental health benefits that are connected with pottery. It helps increase your focus, exercise, imagination & lowers your stress. Neuroscientists have proven the direct benefits & use pottery in depression treatments. There is a joy that strikes once you touch clay and feel it on your skin, the possibilities of creation are endless. Art in any form is an important part of self-expression and pottery in itself is an incredible alternative form of holistic therapy.
Inclusivity
People on the spectrum benefit from the soothing side of pottery, it helps stimulate their focus and spark all senses. The environment and atmosphere of the class is very critical to people of determination as they need to feel safe and comfortable. Completing a ceramic piece gives them a sense of accomplishment and helps their confidence. They use pottery as a tool to communicate their thoughts in a non-verbal way, yet they communicate with students nearby to share their tools and equipment. We want to make sure as a team to offer special workshops to benefit their development and intellectual abilities.
Our Goal
Our vision & long-term goals are to meet local creatives, grow the ceramic community, make meaningful connections, share our knowledge, and constantly evolve.
We look forward to helping you grow.
